Round head rivets are characterized by their large, semi-circular heads. They are commonly used in construction and shipbuilding for their strength and reliability, providing a large bearing surface when working with soft materials.

Flat Head Rivets: have a head that lays flat on the part or material surface. Brazier Head Rivets: button head rivets that feature a wide, shallow head that provides a larger bearing surface under the head for greater resistance to pull through.

The original head of the rivet is called the 'factory head,' and the deformed end is called the 'buck-tail. ' A rivet can support tension on each end of the structure. The permanently formed heads at both ends prevent the rivet from detaching from the drilled hole. 

Place your rivet anvil on your hard working surface and carefully put the round rivet head in the dimple. Keep holding everything tightly together and move your hand away from the rivet area. Using the peen side of your hammer, carefully strike the center of the rivet to flatten and spread the rivet.
